Class Rings

The class ring is another important high school artifact. These are personalized items that most students will order in the last two years of high school. Class rings are made by companies that specialize in their production. The school will contract with one of these companies, sending out a catalog to upperclass students.

Class rings always include the student's graduating year and the name and/or mascot of the school, but other features are optional.

The stone in a ring is usually the student's birth stone, a gem associated with the month in which one was born. The sides of the ring can feature various designs, with most opting for a design that matches an achievement or interest. Companies also offer engraving on the inside of the ring, usually the owner's full name.
